At the Hoover Presidential Library in Iowa. Hoover was president during my mother's youth. Like my mom, Hoover was an orphan. She was abandoned, with her sister, on the steps of an orphanage during the Great Depression.
Didn't know Hoover spent time in China in his twenties developing coal mines and was actually trapped in a house that was shelled during the Boxer Rebellion.
Cried through the accounts of post WWI accounts of survivors in Belgium. They say Hoover's efforts to send food to Europe save 15-20,000,000 from starvation.
